RESOLUTION 10 OF 2024 DOTD Mowing and Litter 24-25

The following resolution was offered by Alderman Duplechain, seconded by Alderman Bourgeois and carried:

RESOLUTION 10 OF 2024

A RESOLUTION GRANTING THE MAYOR THE AUTHORITY TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE, CITY OF JEANERETTE AND STATE OF LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICE OF ENGINEERING FOR MOWING AND LITTER PICK-UP

WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of LSA-R.S. 48:193, DOTD is directed to repair and to keep in operation condition, at its sole cost and expense, all municipal roads and streets within the State Highway System as it is defined in LSA-R.S. 48:191, hereinafter sometimes referred to as the “State Highway System” or “State Roadway”; and

WHEREAS, further, LSA-R.S. 48:193 authorizes municipalities to request that the repair and maintenance of said State Roadways located within their respective municipalities be performed by the municipality, at the State’s expense; and

WHEREAS, DOTD lacks sufficient personnel and equipment to perform moving and litter collection on a routine and continuing basis and wishes to enter into an agreement with the City of Jeanerette to perform maintenance directly related to mowing and litter collection on the state Roadways located within the City of Jeanerette; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jeanerette that the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign and submit the agreements between the City of Jeanerette and the DOTD.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall become effective July 1, 2024 and end June 30, 2025. This Resolution having been, carried with a vote of all Yeah the above resolution was duly adopted:
